Yes it's a GV overdrive. I've had an 86 F250 6.9 for 21yr's now and I still remember when They changed the speed limits and I was in the way

Everyone ask Me what it did for mpg all I know is I used to drive 65 and made 16 mpg now I drive 80mph and make 16mpg.

Bubba, we had an exhaustive posting on that a few months back. It all started with a question like that. Pages & pages of amusing/informative reading.

Can anyone link him to that?

Thanks,

Although I am not a fan of automatics in trucks, the C6 and a Gear Vendors would give you 6 gears forward.

The only down side is the rather high first gear in the C6 puts a lot of pressure on the torque converter.

i have done it, the only real problem i had was the turbo up pipe and the down pipe not having enough clearance, now that would not be a problem if you go with a NA motor, but if not, i just had to cut the firewall out, and bring it in to make everything work/fit! and this was all a lot easier since i had a a complete donor truck, i suggest you do the same, let me know if you have any questions!

ill try to look for some more pix of it later!

[QUOTE=1967 Turbo 6.9]As it happens I'm putting a Bank's Turbo 6.9 in a 67 F250. I updated the chassis by using a 78 cab&chassis frame ( narrower behind the cab)
I opted to not move the engine forward and modified the firewall to clear the down pipe as I may need the room to put the 90 model radiator in front.
I've got a long way to go right now repairing rust is taking My time. It should go fast over the next few week's

That is one sweet truck! nice job.

1967,

Wow! What at tremendous amount of work. Other than the cab mounts, not very many major rust issues, & you could have got away with patching them.

Did you have very much help? Taking all those trucks apart & the sling & all, it would have been nice to have had some extra hands around.

Thanks for taking the extra time to repost the website. Great job.
