Stock intake plentum install info needed
Been fighting egt issues for some time now. Been fixing every problem I came across . Now I have discovered a boost leak at the sheet metal intake plentum. Old ones came off easy ,,, maybe too easy,,. Got them all cleaned up and even bought the motorcraft adhesive. Is there anything I need to know before I start reinstalling?
My plan is to put an even bead of silicone on the plentums and pull the bolts down evenly.
Do I need to pull them down finger tight and wait for it to tack up for about 20 mins before final tightening? Or just go ahead and snug them down while its wet?
As big of a PITA as this is, I sure as heck don't want to do this again.
Thanks,,,

I would practice sliding it on there dry several times before I installed the RTV.
Finger tight is a loose term, but I'd do finger tight while holding an extension in my hand so there's a little torque on it. You want to squeeze the RTV out some, but not torque it down fully until it has cured. At least that's the way I've always done RTV gaskets. There's probably a procedure that gives much more technical details like there is for installing wheel bearings or lug nuts, but I don't break out the torque wrench for those either.
