Post 8MM wires upgrade question

I just upgraded to the larger cap and 8MM wires. I have a question though. What do you do about the coil wire? The one that was on there, is male at both ends, and yet the new one for the 8MM is different. I just used the old coil wire..crimped one end down until it snapped onto the connection on the top of the dist. If there is a better solution, please let me know. Thanks guys.

There are plenty of 8mm wires that work correctly on the old ford distributor caps. You probably have the wrong set. I have always used 8mm or bigger wires and they never gave me any problems.

If you bought a set of wires made for the large cap, it willl come with the correct coil wire that snaps on the cap like the plug wires.

Oh., it snaps onto the cap o.k., it's just that it wants to snap onto the coil also, but the coil is the old style,...push in, not a snap on type.

You could always just change the terminal on the end of the coil wire. Replacement ends are available.
