bigger tires with 4.2 ??
Need input / experiences please. I have a 2000 F150 4.2L w/ 5 speed and 3.55 rear end. truck came w/ 255x70 - 16. I need new tires and can get a good price on 265x75 - 16. This tire would be about .4" wider and about 1.4" taller overall (~.7" larger radius). Has anyone gone to this size tire? If so, how did affect performance, handling etc. You guys get to help me decide...What do I do ????
Thanks,
Brian

I have the same engine/manual setup with goodyear tracker 265/75/16's. I think the truck looks alot better now but it definitely lost a little speed on the takeoff. It still handles really well it just felt different(higher)and took a little getting used to. Overall I think it was a good choice to make. By the way my original tires were 235/70/16's.

Thanks for the response. I have yet to buy. Looking at 265 X 70 and 75 series. Starting with the 255x70's that I currently have I would see an increased rolling radius of about .4" with 70 series and about .75" with 75 series. This equates to about a 2% or 4% increase over current final effective drive ratio. Not nearly as big a change as you saw with the smaller tires you started with.
Still interested if anyone else has any input.....
Thanks,
Brian
