Every now and then when I try to start my truck the ignition stays engaged for just a second and the starter continues to run.Anyone else have this problem?
I believe the 07's have a feature to keep the starter running til the engine runs. On my 06 I tend to not hold the key long enough for a good start. I've gotten used to it now and hold it til it stops cranking.

Yeah, I had the bad habit of doing that on my Cobra all the time. Then it would act like I flooded it, start hard, and then sputter while bellowing black smoke right after start up. But I had a lot of mods done to it, no cats, bigger injectors, custom tune so that may have helped the show when I did not hold the key long enough.
I don't notice it on my 07 5.4, but I really dont' pay attention. I will next time I start it.
If you're coming from an older vehicle, it does seem like the starting on these newer ones is a bit squirrely. There's documentation somewhere about how the torque converter is assisting the starting (or something) and provides the odd-feeling effect.
With my '07 F150, if I hold the starter on as long as I do with the '95 Ranger to where the engine sounds like it has definitely caught, then I've held it too long. I now hold it just long enough that it sounds like the engine has a good spin to it, and it ends up firing every time (so far).
