My Newest Exhaust
Well I had to put my topper on for some camping so the stacks had to come off and I needed to build a new exhaust for when I use the topper (don't worry the stack are coming back after some reworking).
So here it is
More in Webshots!
Its a true side pipe. I wasn't planning this to begin with. I was just planning to come out from under the truck at a 45 degree angle with either this turn down stack pointed down or a slash cut pipe. But as I had my dad holding it under the truck to decide which pipe I was going to use he held it up like so and we both knew what needed to be done. It was more work but it was certainly worth it!
It started life as a 5" by 36" long stack. then I got a chrome 90* salvaged from a banged up semi stack off my dads new tow rig for his 5th wheel (he bought my other 5" turn out to replace it) then about 14" of staight pipe to another 90* to meet the 5" pipe coming off the 3" down pipe. weld on some hangers and there we go. 5" side pipe looking nice!!
I saw a 50-75* EGT drop with this system as my stacks were poorly plumb by the previous owner (stock piping cut up to get tot he underside of the bed to a 3" inlet to a 3.5 inch sqaure tube to 3 inch holes cut in it where the stacks were. looked good - flowed terrible)
So its not much quiter in the cab and people with their windows down at stop light loose some hearing when I take off, plus it bounces off building and gaurd rails very nice so I can hear the turbo sing. its not stacks but it will do while the topper is on.

Steve I did run it about 3 miles with just the downpipe in place. had to go get some Subway in the middle of the job! it whistled quite nicely. The guys at the shop said it sounded like a straight piped 6.0. but it wasn't loud in the cab like a thought it might be.
