Volare brake info needed
This question is for anybody that has a Volare front susp on there truck.
Would you please take the time to write down what M/C and booster you have (also is it mounted on the firewall or under the floor) and what brand rear axle assy. Also how fast do they react and do you feel comforable with how they feel (firm pedal or not).
The reason I'm asking my pedal acts like I have air in the line (there isn't) and it goes to full lock way to fast.
1976 Volare frt susp, 1979 LTD 11 m/c/booster, CPP prop valve and a 1972 F100 rear end. Everything in the brake system is new. I just tried a 10lb valve in the rear brakes and it made no difference.
It's kind of different complaining about having to much front brakes but that seems to be the problem.
Thanks,Chuck
Mine is a firewall mounted 87 Chrysler MC and booster with an 87 Chrysler rear end. I'm using Dot 5 fluid and at first I had a heckova time getting the system bled. But, with all the air out the brakes work great with a nice firm pedal. I am using the stock 87 Chrysler combination valve and no external inline residual valves or proportional valve.
I had to make a panic stop recently when two cars stopped abruptly in front of me on a 55 MPH highway to allow a turkey and her young to cross a busy highway. The truck stopped evenly and the brakes did not lock up. I know the guy in front of me was worried I might not stop in time. I could see him looking for an avenue of escape around the car in front of him. You hope you never have to make a panic stop but now that I have I feel much more confident about the brakes on my truck.
