Please provide guidance. I've searched the forums for dome light and dome light noise and it appears no one has had this problem. I have an 05 screw XLT with 37K & sunroof, and the dome light rattles everytime I hit any type of bump. I know it's the light because if I take just 1 finger and lightly press against it as I go over bumps...no noise. Anyone had to deal with this? Is the light easily removed so I can put something behind it? How do you get the cover off, mine seems to be held in place with locktight.

Not sure how to actually get the cover off, but when I had my old 4Runner, I had a couple 15"s in the back that rattled EVERYTHING.....I used some 1/8" or 1/4" foam strips and back filled where ever i found a rattle. Sometimes you could just cram it in, sometimes just a little glue, and presto!! It absorbed all the vibrations.

With a light though, be sure to just do around the edges, or behind the actual insert, so you don't effect your interior lighting.

 

hahaha yea it took me a while to figure this one out too. The dome light lens comes off then the light itself. reach your hand above the headliner and you will feel 2 hard foam squares glued to the headliner. you can either wedge something between them and the roof or rip them out like I did. Its like driving a new truck after...

 

well now that I reread your post I see you have a SCREW. I would think it would be along the same lines for the foam squares. I have a SCAB

I had that problem but couldn't figure out how to remove the light. I traded in my 2004 screw and got a 2007 screw. Problem solved.

 

I had that issue as well and took it to the dealer for repair. It lasted a bout 6 months before the rattle came back. I guess i will keep takin it back to them until I am off warrenty and then I wiil probably have to fix it properly myself.lol
