I have a Magic Transmission

I put a qt of ATF in the trans every two weeks and shazaam! It disappears!
Seriously, I have a 94 Explorer 4wd with 200K on it, I bought it new.
There are no external leaks and it's not going into the radiator.
The only other place I can think it would go would be into the transfer case. Has anyone else had this happen?

What do you mean it doesn't have a module? Do you mean a modulator valve? Is it a standard? I don't know if the standard has one......probably not I'm guessing.

It's not a standard, I did mean Vacuum Modulator. Last time I looked it wasn't there and no thats not the problem.

You have a modulator valve and that should be your problem. It's located on the tranny itself. Access underneath the truck close to the catalytic converter or through the floor, access panel, passenger side. You'll have to lift the carpet. A pain both ways but through the floor is the less pain.

Have the vacuum hoses ever blown off the vacuum tree under the hood?

Yes, only if it backfires. It's done done it a couple of times. Hint # 1

Well I was mistaken. Today when adding another Qt of ATF, after letting the engine Idle while checking the timing and adding fluid I took it for a drive and when I took off a big puff of smoke came out of the exhaust and it was pinging real bad! Hint # 2. after a 1/8 mile the pinging went away and the engine ran smooth. My wife said it did puff smoke once before when she took off after waiting in a fast food drive thru. Hint # 3
I feel like a rookie "A DUMB ROOKIE"
I guess it's true about never knowing it all, even when common sense told me what it might have been ASSuming it didn't have a modulator got the best of me.
Now that I know that part, I will assume again the that might have also been the reason for the pinging? I took the Spout plug off to keep it from pinging just for today. Will that cause a problem?

Don't be too hard on yourself. We live, we learn, we share, we move on. Not sure if it will harm the engine but I would get the modulator valve replaced asap. What's happening is tranny fluid is getting sucked into the combustion chamber because of the faulty valve. That's were your tranny fluid is disappearing to. It's not a fun job if you do it yourself because it's so freaking hard to get at and space is VERY limited. If I remember correctly there's a pin you have to make sure you keep when you pull the old valve out. It's about a 25+ F-bomb job so I've been told. Not too expensive if you get it done at a shop. I got mine done at the shop. Don't remember the cost but I'm sure it was less than $200(canuckle bucks).

Good luck.

Yup, I would also run seafoam through the engine. Transmission fluid causes a lot of carbon build up which in turn causes the pinging. Seafoam will remove the build up and clean the insides of the engine.

Maybe we should all send a letter to Ford and say, get your shizt together or were all going to buy the new Toyota Tundra.
Whats it gunna take?

Ya know the one thing in life that you could always count was your Ford.
Wifes go a stray, dogs get lost, jobs come and go but your Ford was always there for ya what happened?

Honestly, I haven't lost my faith in Fords. I currently own five and have had very good service from them all. My biggest gripe is the Taurus SHO, but only with the price of the head gaskets or gaskets in general.

Ok, So the I got the new modulator I went the remove the cats method. I didn't see the pin that goes in the center of the old modulator It didn't fall out and It's not in the old one and I can't feel it when I stick my finger in the hole. Shouldn't I be able to fell it if it's still in the tranny?
OMG, please don't tell me it could have fallen into the pan!
