Question 75W140 or 75W90

I'm wanting the change my rear diff fluid and the owners manual calls for 75W140. I talked to a guy that owns a diesel shop up here (in Alaska) and he said I only needed 75W90, same as the front diff. Would I get better mileage? Would this cause premature wear? Can anyone lay out the pros and cons of this for me? Thanks.

I changed my rearend fluid couple weeks ago. Now ford recomends using 75w140 in both front and rear.

I'd go with the 75W140 - a toasted rear wouldn't be cheap to replace, or much fun either

I'd go with the 140. I tried 90 in mine once and though it was too light. Rear gets pretty warm, so I'd go with the thicker lube. There is a reason for it.
