What kind of oil filter do you use?????

I was told the other day by a ford diesel mechanic that fram oil filters are bad for the PSD. I have always used fram oil filter on my truck! He told me to use motercraft oil filters. Also were could I find some synthetic oil. Thanks.

I use motorcraft filters only. Both that filter and synthetic oil is available at WalMart. I have yet to find better pricing. I have not heard that Fram filters are bad, but who knows? Could be a dealer loyalty thing.

I run an Oilguard full flow filter as well as the bypass. Im running 5w-40 rotella now that's 1000+ miles overdue, waiting hopefully on Schaeffer's 9000 synthetic.

I use Napa/wix oil filters on all of my vechicles. I use Shell Rotella T in my F350 and plan to switch over to synthetic Rotella at the next change.

I use the Wal-mart brand Tech filters on everything. Castrol oil in the gassers, and Rotella T in the PSD.

Guys on a mustang forum that I used to post at were very adamant that the Fram filters were junk. They had done comparisons by cutting them open and looking at the particulate filtered. Their recomendations were usually wix or motorcraft.

Now that we are on the subject of oil and filters, do any of you use additives in the oil like "lucas" or somthing like that?

No oil additive, except antifoam..

Mobil one filter and Schaeffers 9000 OA to 10000 OCI, synthetic media as well, for the cost of Motorcraft..

When I first started viewing FTE back in 2001, there were many members who didn't care for Fram filters. Many had photos of filters cut open to show the differences. I had always used Fram up to that point, not knowing the company had changed hands, and apparently lowered the quality.

For six years I've used either a Wix or Motorcraft on my truck. They just seem to feel heavy duty in my hand. Mobil 1 goes in all my cars and Schaeffer 9000 goes into the PSD (their factory is only 25 minutes from my front door).
