Talking 95 lightning

Hello i purchased a 1995 lightning this weekend and i have some qusetions. did it come from the factory with a roller cam, or a hyd cam? and does anyone have any sugestions as to what cam would be a nice streetable upgrade? it is a 1995 with 37K miles! mass air conversion, equal length Bassani headers and exhaust, with 30 pound injs. it runs great, but would like alittle more. thank you for your help.

If it's a roller, I would think the FRPP F303 would be a good cam. Not sure how it will like a stock torque converter though. I've never heard one, but want one for my Mustang.

The GEN 1's didn't come with roller cams from the factory. However, most can be converted easily and it's relatively inexpensive if you use Ford hardware.

The F-cam is going to be a bit much for a pickup with a stock converter. Best option would be to go with a custom grind cam. However, quite a few owners have noticed a mild improvement with a Mustang roller cam swap (87-93 5.0 HO). Those cams in a GEN 1 Lightning seem to idle well and pull nice at higher RPM's, where the stock cam would start to fall off.

If it has had the mass air conversion, you can run the f cam. But you may not like it. No so good street manners.

Blurry94 has it right with getting a custom grind.
