Fuel Filler neck restriction

I can't use the larger fuel pump nozzles at truck stops because of a inner ring in the fill neck on my truck. If I snip/cut it out will it cause a problem?

I tried to get the answer through a thread search and failed.

Yes I can use the smaller ones but it is nice to have a little space for the trailer so pulling around back would be better. (where the big rigs go to fill but can still pay cash/debit not TCH or Comdata)

a lot of people have just cut out the inner piece. most did it when doing the hutch/harpoon mods. I didn't do it at the time, but its easy to pop it out. Then you can use the larger pump spouts.

Open your filler door. You will see 3 bolts around your filler cap. Take those 3 8mm bolts out. Take your cap off. Go on the underside and you will see the 2 hoses leading up to that neck secured by worm clamps. Take them out. Now, take the neck out. Hog out the restriction. Clean. Reinstall. That is what I did. I fill up where I can get it. Doesn't change anything for me.

That is the long version of what I meant by "pop it out", but I am sure you get the idea. There isn't much to it. Good dart aklim!

Thanx. I was half afraid he'd pop it out by whacking it and drop debris in the tank. Then his next thread will be "Plastic and metal bits in tank. What now?". Better safe than sorry. We took one tank out for a friend because of that very reason. I told him to drill it out and he did. Asked him what he did with the debris and he said he flushed it off with brake cleaner. Guess where it went.

I wonder how ford determined when to use the larger filler neck hole (probably not the technical term, but you get the idea). My 02 F250 has the larger hole, but my 03 E350 does not.

Maybe the trucks that got the small single pane mirrors got the blockage in the filler neck.
Sorry just a little venting.
LARGE TRUCK tiny mirror

By the box of parts that they have on that day? IOW, if they open up the box and it is full of big filler necks, the trucks get big necks.
