Ok, I meant choke out from a steep angle instead of bog. I like going up some pretty steep stuff, and i dont want my truck to choke out in the middle of a hill. BTW, has anyone use a carter thermoquad off road?

Yes, on an 85 W250 Dodge 318. There's not any different than a Q-Jet off-road. The problem is finding a good Thermo-Quad, and getting it set up. With plastic bowls they had there problems. Many Dodge guys go to Q-Jets. If you check out the forum at allpar.com you'll find a good group of Dodge people if you search there is a lot on Thermo-Quads there, & where to buy good ones. Holley builds the Truck Avenger that is designed for what you want. 45 degree side angle Holley claims NO PROBLEM. Spring loaded needle & seat. Never used one. I run a 600 CFM 4160 Holley on my 86 F250, 4x4, 460.
Id love to use a truck avenger, but i dont have the money for one. Back to my original question, would a 4300 do ok off road, going up steep stuff and mudding?
