What's With My Rear Sliding Window?

Since the day I bought the truck brand new the rear sliding window has been a PITA to open and close. I've gotten to the point where I don't even want to use it because it seems like it wasn't supposed to slide in the first place. When we are on the road my kids like to climb back and forth in to the camper to grab a snack or a drink and I hate it every time they have to open and close that window because I think they are going to break it. I've tried cleaning and lubricating the slide rails, nothing has worked. Does anyone have this same thing going on and have you found any way to fix it?

Is yours a power sliding window? Mine is a manual window and slides easily, but I RARELY use it - maybe 3 times in the past 10 months is all

I wish is was a power window, then I probably wouldn't have to struggle with it so much.

Mine isn't that hard to open, but if it could be easier, I'd like to know as well. Once I get it to move, no problems after that. Main problem is it is opened maybe twice a year.

As suggested on another link, I think it was KWIKORDEAD, they were talking about the door windows and the consensus was to use plumbers silcone lubricant aka silicone valve lube. I have used the stuff for years on all kinds of things including glass runs and the stuff is great. Give it a try and dont be surprised at how easy it is to open and close the slider.

I don't know about the power slider. Mine was really slow when it was brand new in my 04.

I was climbing all over my truck this weekend and decided I would try to lube the rear slider up. It made a huge difference and now when the kids open it I wont have to be the one who climbs back there to close it.

I have had the same issue before and I just used plain 'ol Silicone Lube. It gets better for about 6 months. I am thankful the window fits tight insted of leaking.

Parts store

Go to your local parts store, ask for a product called Sil-glide. I think that may be spelled wrong. Anyway, that works great.
