2004 FX4 5.4L 96000 miles, tail pipes still clean. Drove it to California from Texas, got 18 mpg on the way then 20 mpg in Cal. I use 5w20w oil as the owners manual calls for and I installed a K&N air filter

I was given a 1999 F-250 V8. The owner before me had her 4 years and never once did an oil change. She's rolling now with just over 238,000. Just got 2 new rear tires and an oil change today. She's rough but she still runs!

Mines at 205k and runs strong and smooth with a stack of pm receipts.. 2000 f250 5.4! If you take care of them they take care of you! A little off point but ford has always been good to me. Bought my wife a brand new off the lot eddie baur edition explorer in 96 with the 4.0 and sold it with 365k on it original engine, tranny and all...a/c still blew cold...built ford tough is not a lie!

I have a 2002 F150 King Ranch w/225,321mi. on it. Runs and drives just fine. Routine PM is the way to get the most out of any truck.

Go 5.4!

I have a 2000 F-250 with the 5.4L Triton and believe it or not as if now it has 234,000 miles and it runs strong! The 5.4 is probably one of the most underrated gas engines out there. As long as you change the oil every 7,000 miles or so, it won't let you down.

7K miles between oil changes? WTH?? Mine is changed at 3-4K max, more often than not closer to the 3K interval though.

There are a few in this thread with more miles than my 275K 2000 E250 5.4L but not many----and that one still runs strong enough for another 50-75K I'm sure!

There are times I kinda wish I had a V10 in my E250's but that's certainly more a wish than a real desire---one of those things sounding better on paper than it is in reality!

I'm very much convinced the 5.4 is among the very best motors I've ever dealt with in nearly 43 years driving.

I had a 5.4 in a e150. Head gaskets went about 347000. It didn't owe me anything. Sold it for 450 the other day. New owner just driving around with a bad hg. Pretty reliable engine, plugs blowing out is the largest mechanical problem imo.

Mine had 290K when it came off of snow plow duty in the winter and landscapeing in the summer. The boss man put a rebuilt ford crate motor in it, sold it to my buddy and now ive had it for four years. Now has 336K on the truck and have just had my first every issue with the motor. Not really the motors fault, it something that makes it run. once I figure that out it will be back on the road.

That is how i found this thread. Looking for ideas on whats wrong!

154k on my 1998 e150 and still running strong. Two coils and normal maintenance are all the engine has needed.

53k on my 2000 super duty and two bad coils also. 45k miles have had 6-9k lbs hooked to it. No complaints at all.

Update as of today. Truck still behaving the same as far as oil consumption. Except now with 320,000 miles.
