none, its just loose and i tightened it with my 1/2 wratchet but i didn't get it tight enough because now i have a vibration again. i know theres suppost to be torque specs for how tight you need to get it, i just can't find it.
Next time you work on it, pull the yoke completely off and look at the splines on the ID. I just worked on one for the same thing, and noticed the splines were worn. I am suspicious that the splines being worn are letting the yoke work back and forth on the shaft, which loosens the nut. The owner didn't want to spend the money for a new yoke, so we tightened it as tight as my impact would go, but if it works loose again, I think my theory is going to be correct.
ya thats what i thought too about the splines beeing warn. it was a farm truck and it was beat pretty hard. when i tightened it up it was ok for a day, but i did not torque it to 160ft lb ill pull it off this time and take a look, but right now i don't have the time to work on it so i think ill just put some blue lock tite on it and tighten to spec and hope it stays.
The yoke splines do wear, and fortunately the yoke wears before the pinion shaft splines.
That makes the repair a lot cheaper than it could be if you needed to replace the pinion.
You have to be carefull on hammering these yokes pn. It will pull the pinion gear into to ring gear and mess up your ring and pinion mess pattern and it will most likely not live very long. Boom.
