No power slow turbo response
My '06 is doggy. Turbo doesn't do much until I exceed 1500RPM. Took issue to dealer, and they don't have a diesel tech on staff right now, so they can't do warranty work. They want to drive it 45 miles north to another dealer for the work. They have another truck up there they need to pick up tomorrow. Seems like a bum deal to me, being used to go pick up another truck.
Always thought my truck was weak. 9k miles now, and not much better. Dad and I were pulling hay last month. I had 8 bales on a gooseneck, and he had 11 on a bumper hitch hauler. He was in 2nd gear lugging his way out of the field, and my truck stalled in first. I had to go to 4 wheel low to get it done. Both trucks are '06 stick with 3.73 rear gears. His is a dodge. Kinda torqes me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There must be something wrong. Any Ideas?
Thanks.

I thought the same thing. I had them changed at 7500 miles when I had the oil changed (2nd time).
I had been buying fuel from uptown all winter. I had a new fuel barrel put in just for highway fuel this spring. I had the fuel filters changed on my nickel at the dealership to try and improve the problem, and to document that I was having problems enough to pay over $100 to try and fix it. No measurable improvement.

It is a bit frustrating. This truck doesn't handle my stock trailer any better than my '02 F250 with the 5.4 gasser did, until I get it up to 45-50 mph. At that point the diesel shines. Can I assume Pop's Cummins will also get better with break-in? If so, then my Powerstroke still suffers greatly by comparison.
I expected my dealer to call me Monday with an appointment arrangement. Still waiting. It has been 2 weeks now (and three personal visits). I think I am calling another dealer today. So much for buying in town (and paying too much) hoping that I will be taken care of when things like this happen.

Perhaps theres a code that didn't trigger a CEL? Might be a good idea to see if you can get your codes checked. 9,000 Miles seems like a decent break in time, espeically if you have been doing alot of towing. The cummins probably starts off better because it developes peak torque around 1600RPM, while the PSD is around 2000 RPM I think..

Things to check are exhaust gas leaks between turbo inlet and manifolds, egr valve pluged, turbo actuator stuck in nuetral pitch, turbo vanes not changing pitch, Blowoff valve hung open. The last is rare, the others are problems some of my friends have experienced with the 6.0. THis is a varible pitch vane turbo and fORD has ahd problems with it. When it or the actuator fail your EGR valve will plug with soot.
