Talking Gotta brag about my mileage

Just made a trip up to Bowling Green, KY from Jefferson, GA, 367 miles. Used the AC from Jefferson to Mont Eagle, TN then ran with the windows down. There was just one in the truck and about 300 pounds in the bed. I got 19.91 mpg.
Then on the return trip I ran from BG, KY to Chattanooga with the AC and then from there to Jefferson with the windows down. Same payload but now two in the cab and I got 19.92 mpg.

I used the cruise control set at 74, roughly 2000 rpms, most of the time. There was very little traffic while I was driving so I drove at a very consistent speed.

I've got an '06, 2WD with the 5.4L and tow package

i just got a little better than 20 with my truck going from PA to NC...i went a little slower than you and i had 3 other people other than me in the truck with the bed full (about 300 lbs) and the 4 of us were about 650 lbs...so total aroud 1000 lbs...

i was very pleased with it.....i'm very easy on the skinny pedal too...that helps out....i'm usually into OD by 40mph

I have never got that kind of milage. Only 16.4 at best. Might have something to do with the fact that I don't have to pay for fuel.

Do you guys getting this higher mileage have tuners? My 06 SCREW FX4 will run around 3000RPMs at 74mph. I have to stay around 65 to keep RPMs at 2000. I usually get 13-14mph at best

All stock except for K&N filter in stock housing. Don't think that adds much at all.

Did you adjust your speedo for your taller tires? And 3000 RPM sounds like alot even if you have 3.73 gears... goin to 305's like your gallery says would put you bellow 3.55 i bet

Hi wedge88, sorry to see that you are getting low numbers. Are they your highway figures? Do you have any modifications like a lift, bigger tires, or a performance exhaust? I drive a stock 2006 swb screw lariat 4x4 with 5.4L and 3.73 LS rear. The only add on I have is a hard tonneau cover. On a recent trip back from the Poconos mts in PA to Philadelphia, I got 20.5 MPG. This was with the a/c on and a steady cruise set at 60 mph, O/D on and the engine was turning around 1800 rpms. On a trip before, the same destination, I had 19.5 MPG with the air on, except I was driving at 70 MPH most of the way and turning roughly 2000 rpms. Now, when I drive around town, my mileage goes down to 11.5-13 MPG, especially since I have been running the a/c alot as well. I hardly ever turn 3000 rpms unless I am driving with my o/d off and I trying to pass someone or climbing a steep hill. I do not have a chip or a tuner, so I cannot say what kind of effect this will have on these trucks. Good luck getting your truck fixed.
