Aftermarket Stereo pictures

I was thinking about putting in a aftermarket stereo in my 2005 supercrew in attempt to upgrade.
The only thing is to upgrade you will have to have a din put in also. I dont know how good this will look compared to the factory set-up.
If anybody has put an aftermarket stereo that also had a din kit in 2004 and up, please post any pictures on the outcome. thanks

be sure to get the radio kit that has the opening for the radio and a pocket to store things. they look fine, i have installed a few of them. or you can get a double din radio that will fill up the entire space. pics of that in my gallery. the single din kits look fine though.

Thumbs up

Conan8
I just bought a pre-owned 04 F-150 and It has a aftermarket Pioneer head unit with a storage compartment just below the unit and I think it looks great . I like the easy access for quick storage of small stuff ,cigs, lighter, whatever. I'm real picky about the way things look also. And this gets a thumbs up. Just remember do what you like. Its your ride.
Enjoy

here is A picture of my radio area. It's an Alpine iva-d300 which is a touchscreen model, however in the picture I don't have it out. I did Stereo install's at a couple of different shops while I was in college so I couldn't leave the stock unit in. I switched out the head unit the first week that I had it.

Thanks. I didn't like the plastic piece that comes with the tuner.

+1 on the edge mount jlykins...that isn't a bad idea at all...

how much twisting and turning did you have to do so you could feed the cable down to the ALDL for the Edge?

When you remove the front ac/radio panel it's like a cavern in there. You can pretty much stick your hand through the opening and come out under the dash near the OBD2 port. It only took about 5 minutes to do. I just drilled a hole in the back of the pocket that comes with the radio mounting kit and ran the wire through that way. I used 3M two sided tape to hold the Edge up.

Here is the Metra kit (99-5807).

The one posted above must be the Scosche kit? It doesn't look like it is sitting right in the dash, it's nearly flush at the bottom but way too far in at the top. When I first bolted mine in it looked the same so I sized it up with the deck and found that the mounting tabs don't match up with the ones on the factory deck. I added some spacers and used some longer screws to get it to sit flush with the trim plate. I thought I had the wrong kit but after seeing this I guess thats the way they fit....wrong! Anyone else have this problem?

Chief-
single din: a normal sized radio like pictured above
din and a half: in between single and double din
double din: a unit like the navigation units that will fill up the whole space
