Man, I hear you! My friends give me grief the same way. We get to the large passes and I hear them screaming up on 30LBS of boost just so they can wave as they haul *** past me pulling half the weight I am. I just shake my head every time and think, when the hell was this a race? If I wanted something fast, I'd buy a sports car, not a freakin $60K pickup.

I think the current wave of diesel owners are slowly becoming the new ricers. They are loud, slow, have huge fart-can exhaust and something to prove to everyone around them. I rarely see them pulling anything that actually requires a diesel engine. Dont get me wrong, diesels have their place, I owned one. However, it seems that 80% of the people I see driving them are just doing so because it is the in thing. I recently had a guy in a new duramax come up next to me on the freeway (I was doing 70). I also was pulling my big trailer loaded up with the jeeps. He hangs back for a second and then guns it, screaming past me while pulling a single QUAD I just don't get it.

Go with the 4.56s. You wont regret it for one second.

BTW. Nice rig! Are those 46" claws?

Marcus

I also use my V10 to tow my off road toy.
I have the 4.30's and have been very satisfied with the performance and milage, which is between 10-13 depending on the wind.
This motor loves to rev, maybe it would be even better with 4.56's.

How hard is it to change the oil pan on a 2000 V10?

It cost me $300 to change one on a 94 F150 I-6 because the dumb-a$$ engineers put a cross frame right under it. The motor had to be jacked up.

Also what is the average cost to change gears in the rear end?

changing the oil pan shouldn't be an issue........maybe a little more work if you have the offroad package with it's skid pans......but no large cross member.

gear swap costs here in Vegas are around $1,500 - $2,000........thats front and rear and the cost of the gears themselves.

I've got a friend that was just dead set on a 3v V10....a new one if he found a deal but used he would be just as happy. the company he works for gives him a GAS card.....read "free GAS"......not diesel. Goes out just to shop and compare.....dude comes home with an '07 diesel and a $600 dollar payment.
he says....."the pressure just got to me"
so like i said, i've got a point to make..........i'll pull twice as much or in some cases, i'll pull three time what my friends are pulling with their diesels.

yep 46" claws
