Can you measure yours for me?

I am preparing to order my gauges and have decided to go with the setup that goes above the rear-view mirror. I have studied this intently and have come to the conclusion that their is not enough room. Can someone measure the distance from the top of the mirror to the roof for me?

Thanks,
RC

you know that you can push the mirror down and gain about an inch or so and still have it adjusted? it will lessen the amount you can see directly behind your tailgate because it lowers the height of the mirror and creates a bigger blind spot.

You know.....on another note. You can lower your rearview. An inch or two won't be noticieable.

For those who have already installed their above the rear view mirror pod did you have any problems? How hard was it removing the headliner?

yes, that is pretty funny. i was going to say mine, then i thought, what's the use of having a rearview mirror on the dash? then i saw that you meant the distance between the ceiling and the mirror.

I've looked at mine (the mirror ) and noticed the fit for a gauge pod up there would be very tight, if it would fit at all. But, isn't the mirror just glued to the windshield? That would allow you to remove the mount, lower it a little, and re-glue it back.

[QUOTE=. But, isn't the mirror just glued to the windshield? That would allow you to remove the mount, lower it a little, and re-glue it back.[/QUOTE] Yes it is glued on, but removal is very risky for breaking the windshield. Removal consisted of using a propane torch on the outside, moving it at all times to avoid to much heat in one area,(low heat ) over the mirror button area with somebody in the inside with a pair on pliers gentle wiggling the button. I don't recommend trying it because a new OEM shield is about $450.00 . to much risk.

We do this a lot for the hotrodders that chop their top and we have to cut their glass down to fit.

I would definitely not want to get a new windshield for the sake of a gauge installation. Doubt that a truck mod would fly with the insurance people either when trying to get them to replace the windshield.

A BLOW TORCH?

There is a tool that you can buy to remove the button. It takes about 30 seconds.

A hand held propane torch on low heat, If you have a tool to remove the button from the glass that takes 30 seconds, please tell my where to buy several, I think you are thinking about the mirror removal tool thank removes the mirror from the button, that does take only 30 seconds.
