While pulling a boat (about 5500 lbs) with my 05 F250, it makes a loud sucking noise, sounds like a carb. motor with no air cleaner, then the temp gauge will go to hot. When you let off the temp goes back down to normal. There was colant on the resavor tank and the left side battery. Took it to Ford and they could not find anything wrong. Anybody had this happen or any ideas of what is causeing it?
Check the coolant hoses, it took two trips to the dealer for them to find one loose which blew coolant everywhere. For me it was the top driver side hose that was loose from a recall pipe that was replaced a month prior.
mine was drinkin coolant like there was no tomarrow. it turns out to be blown head gaskets. dont know its one or both as they have yet to tear it all down. i also had coolant on the res tank and dried coolant all over the hood. hope any of this helps.
btw... mine is stock as well and towing almost the same load.
I agree and I forgot about that one. A little over a year ago one of the heads was swapped as the gasket had blown and warpped a head. A bad gasket will blow coolant everywhere...
