Later model 5.4 power verses early

I have a 2000 5.4 Exp 4x4 with i think a 3.55 rear end(odd). I have 150,000 miles on it and tow a 5000Lb bass boat. I'm about to buy a new rig either a exp or F150. They state the new motors have 310 HP and mine is rated at 260. Does this motor have that much more power and how will it toe. They rate the 5.4 with 3.73 gears(4x4) at 18 Hwy. Mine was rated 16. Will it really do that much better and have a 20% plus power increase.

When considering towing, look at the torque numbers and the rpm at which peak torque occurs. I think empty acceleration is probably better with the newer higher hp version but towing isn't likely changed by much because the torque rating didn't go up with the hp.

Yes it is entirely possible to get more power and more economy, technology is a wonderful thing.
