So my e4od has developed a strange sound reminiscent to high pressure air rushing under the cab. It's like a rubbing/grinding/whirring noise. It seems that the noise started when I towed 5k lbs with my truck a couple months ago. Before it would only come after the truck had been driven for an hour or so, but now it comes within only minutes after starting the truck. It also seems to make the noise more loudly right before the transmission shifts, which makes me think torque converter. And the noise also stops if I have it in neutral or park. And lastly, it always seems to make the noise when I'm backing up in reverse. I've also noticed that after driving my truck for 30-40 minutes in the hills the bellhousing is BLAZING hot. The fluid and filter are less than 10k miles old. Anyone have any idea what this could be?
I'm taking the truck to a tranny shop tomorrow for a free diagnosis but I just want to be somewhat prepared for whatever the tech throws at me (namely, "you need a full rebuild"). I don't know much about transmissions so this is all pretty foreign to me. Can anyone tell me what to watch for if they do tell me I need a rebuild? Specific types of parts that I would want and how much I should be paying for them? Thanks a bunch guys.

I'm still having issues with this. A local transmission shop kept it for 2 days but found nothing wrong with the transmission, but they did not inspect it very closely as it was a free inspection.
Today I put the rear end on jack stands and put the truck in drive. As the driveline spun up I could hear pretty loud clicks and clacks coming from my transmission towards the rear where it meets with the transfer case. I was also hearing some noise in the transfer case. Any ideas here guys?
