It could be possible it all depends on gears driving habits driving conditions hilly or flat and what not but i dont think it will get much better than your sport trac maybe same or less

I went from an 01 ST to the 06 SCrew with the 5.4.
I drive 32 miles one-way everyday to work. The first 4.5 miles is at 55-60 the next 22 miles at 74 (which is just a hair over 2000 RPMs) and the last 5.5 miles at 45-50. I get an average of 17.2 mpg. (Yes, I'm alittle annal, it's part of being an engineer.)
When I drive to Bowling Green, KY or Mt Vernon, OH I get an average of 17.9 mpg. I rarely use the AC and use the cruise control even on the 55 mph state routes (I have a heavy foot and can't afford the tickets).
I bought the 5.4 because we tow a camper and a utility trailer and when I've towed the camper up into the Smokies I get 14. The ST was also used to tow the same camper and it would get 13 when going to the Smokies. But I sure couldn't pass an RV while headed up 441 thorugh NC with the ST. The trouble with the F150 is I forget the camper's back there and drive a little more aggressively with it than I should.

The F150 is a great upgrade form the ST. With a family of 5, the oldest being 5'8" 150 lbs, there is still plenty of room for all three as they continue to grow. I just wish it had that power rear window the ST has.

well i was talking to another ford truck guy at work today and he said he test drove a chevy silverado and the only reason he considered to get a chevy is because they got it to where a v8 will run like a v4 when the motor is in overdirve and he said it displays getting like 36mpg hwy.

so i guess i won't get a 07 f150, and i'll just wait for when ford does this to the f150's

he said on the sticker they only display what the motor can get if all 8 cylinders were burning and and receiving fuel. it can't display what it could get when the motor cuts off 4 of its 8 cylinders!

if this is true, i'll wait for ford to do this too!

Either the salesman did not know what he was talking about, or he told you a lie. They run the actual vehicle, not just the engine, and they run it on a dyno simulating real-world conditions.

Remember back in '05 when Dodge came out with the Hemi in their trucks? The EPA MPG went from 14/18 to 14/19...they hyped it up and said that it saved 15%.
