Getting new HD4R100 today

Well, I roasted one of the clutches in my original transmission this past week coming down Tioga pass and needed a quick replacement. I'm getting the Motorcraft HD4R100 installed today by my local dealer and will post my thoughts and opinions about it for those that may be thinking about getting it as well.

For those that have replaced their transmissions with better units: Will I feel a power difference since it may be a bit more efficient at putting power to the wheels? I know I'll feel more confident in its reliability, thats for sure!

Do you know if there is more than one type available? I put a ford reman in mine a few months ago and i'm curious if its the same one. Mine wasn't near that much but my buddy at ford gave me a deal on it. is that price just the part? or parts and labor.

Ford offers the standard reman for about $1000 less that this unit and this unit just became available within the past 6 months or so. The $2900 is for the unit only and labor will add another $400 on top of it.
My part number is a TRM-1622 for a '99 F250. There should be a parts sticker on yours to compare your part number.

I just did the same tranny 3 weeks ago for same price your paying but got a bit of the shaft when it came to the 6.0l trans cooler paid 362 i think. the trans works great the are solid and the only problem is torque converter lockup I dont like it seems to slip more than the stocker but I think its due to programing running sct with innovative tunes.I think you will like the new tranny.

Yes, it comes with 3yr/75k warranty.

Shaggy, that doesnt sound very good about the TC lockup. I hope mine is solid.
I just went with the regular tranny cooler replacement ($125) since I run a Tru-Cool in series after the stock cooler so temps are never a problem.

no i think mine is purely due to tranny programing with the sct.Im actually wanting to change that with dp tunes because when talking with innovative he doesnt seem to want to work with me to get this worked out he keeps telling me nothing needs to be changed programming wise even knowing I am no longer runnig the stock tranny.the dealer I bought mine through would give me a warranty without changing th cooler also thats why I went with the 6.0.

My dealer is making me change the cooler for the warranty but I just opted to go with the standard cooler.

Jody says this transmission doesnt need any programming changes for the F5 chip so I'll just hope it works out well. I hope you get your issue resolved.
