Arnott industries out of Florida sells the compressors for around your same price that you pulled off ebay w/ a warranty. I've ordered two for different vehicles and worked out great

Check the relay under the bumper on Pass side. Search this site for info on LLS and that relay. I and others have posted much on the topic. In my case as someone already suggested it was a bad relay---$100 I think. I've often thought of getting one out of a bone yard and keeping it as a spare.
There is an ongoing debate on this forum as to changing out the LLS for a std spring suspension. My take is, if you haul variable loads and or tow---it's great and worth the struggle to keep it operating. Sure rides nice under all conditions. If you don't need all that--then it's probably cheaper to convert in the long run if you are going to keep the truck.
In your case it's most likely a bad relay or compressor---a little diagnostic time will tell you which.
John I replaced mine on my 2000 this last spring---with about 80K on the clock---well worth the money and time---I did it to coincide with new tires---hopefully the tires will last longer with new shocks---that's been my experience in the past. In any case the improved ride and stability was very noticeable. The truck had started to get a little unstable cornering and towing.
I expected the shocks on this truck to last longer than I would on a car---but I guess I was wrong. So I'm glad I did it at 80K---that will get me to 150K or so and at that point I'll have to decide to keep her going or move on to a new ride.
