my 1990 f150 will not idle at all, must keep foot on gas at all times, it also quits running sometimes while driving yet does not need to cool off to restart, maybe the control module? Does 1990 have a central computer? anyone have any answers Im a carpenter not a mechanic, thanks so much
yep mine is a 90 also and does the same thing, when you first start it it idles right up and then quickly dies if you don`t hold the gas down.Anyone have any ideas?
Mine idled low when the A/C was on......even stalled if I didn't keep a foot on it. I took the IAC off Wed.....took it apart and cleaned it......spraying LIBERALLY with carb cleaner. Ran the A/C all day yesterday......no problems.
Very easy to do and appears to have fixed it.....idles a little higher without the A/C now too.
Haynes Manual tells you where it is....On my 5.0 it's on the right side of the TB(looking from the front).......cylindrical shaped with a plug on the end........with a base bolted to the TB......remove the wire and 2 #10 bolts......take it to your workbench and remove the 2 screws.........Spray and clean WELL.
