is this going to be the end of my leaks, if performed correctly?
I hope so....

the only way ive fixed this problem was one time i had to take motor out to fix it and rear main then one time i loosened the flange nut and put silicone all around with no oil and let it set for a day and it worked.!

If it happens to fall in the pan just get a pair of mechincal fingers from craftsman or snap-on. Its about 18 to 20 inches long and bendable with 4 fingers on the end that you push out with the other end. We use those things all the time in very very tight spots where you cant even see to pick up small 1/4" washers or whatever behind and underneath ejection seats on F-16's.

Het Fat Diesel thanks for the pictures...
I was able to out in a new O ring by holding on tonthe flange piece with a bore cleaning brush for a .45 cal gun...just the right size...the pushedthe flange into the pan...picked out the old O ring...then slid new O ring around flange and pulsed the flange back into place. I think that my leak was because the big brass nut was bad not the O ring...so I replaced that too.

Just as I wrote in the other thread:

"Since this old thread has been revived anyone with a leaking dipstick
tube flange should be aware that Guzzle now offers a repair kit". LINK

Thanks for the tips on this I am gonna try this sat. I am really worried as I am not much of a mechanic but wish me luck. Heck it's costing me as much in oil as it is in fuel right now. Thanks again

I am not trying to re-beat a dead horse but I am fuzzy on this. Does the new gasket go inside the oil pan? It sounds like it does from all the posts but somewhere back there somebody asked and was told it goes on the outside. The nut came loose on mine and started to leak but I do not see a gasket. I am thinking LOTS of silicone sounds pretty good right now.

There is an o ring on the inside of the oil pan. I would use some high temp RTV before silicon if you go that route. You probably should drain some oil out and let it set up for 24 hours.

No O ring does

The O ring goes inside...if nut came loose -- get a new brass nut from Ford. I don't have a gasket outside -- just the O ring and a new brass nut -- no leaks at all.

Kenny,

Go to Robin's post in #114 above and click on that link he mentions. It takes you to Guzzle's site.

On Guzzles's site, at the bottom of that description page for that kit, highlighted in yellow, there is a place to click to bring up a PDF of detailed instructions. Click on it.

Take the time to read those three pages. Your questions will be answered.

This is not the first time Bob (Guzzle) has saved our butts.
