I'm looking to put a 3" body lift on my truck...Is this an easy task to accomplish?

 

I know doing a body lift of that size often requires the extension of brake lines, steering linkages and a few other items. If you have the ability to lift the body off the frame (i.e. a shop lift) it wouldn't be that bad- just time consuming. Take your time, read the instructions (3 times) and check everything that runs from the body to the frame before lifting. Figure on the better part of a day for your first time. I just replaced all the body bushings on my 87 Grand National and it is pretty much the same process....took me 6 hours in the driveway with a floor jack and jackstands.

Ok here is the deal I just put one on my 99 last year and it isn't too tough but there is a few things to look at.......

#1 Take the bed loose and move it back or else you will have a big gash right behind the cab where the bed wraps around the cab.

#2 Fan shroud is a pain in the a$$ to get right.

#3 I highly reccomend the performance accessory body kit it comes with EVERYTHING!!

#4 Take your time and do it right and hook everything up that is supposed to be hooked back up and you will be fine. I did mine in my drive way with a 2 ton jack and it was very simple. The trick is take the bolts on one side loose very loose but not all the way out and then pull the ones on the other side all the way out lift up that side and put your spacers in and hand tighten the bolts then put the spacers in on the other side. I don't know how your 02 is set up but i had no trouble with mine. And I got the Lift at Auto Zone but there are several places that sell it.

 

I would think they are set about the same... What size tires ya got?

 

305-70-16 they rubbed even with the lift but i cut out the inside of my front bumper a bit but you can't see it from the outside you have to be under it to actually see it.

 

How long did it take to do? Is the Body Lift just the spacers?

 

Whats the purpose of these?

Yeah it is just spacers and it took me about 6 hrs (i took my time my truck is my baby) I have a few pics of them just not on here.

 

those are just lift blocks that raise the rearend 3 in

 

The body lift kit comes with EVERYTHING you need bumper re locators steering extenders shroud relocators ect......

 

Cool...So you didnt have to make any adjust, other than the fan shroud? Did ya need an steering extension?
