5W-30 or 10W-30?

What is better for my Lightning??? I live in FL so it doesnt really get that cold. I am thinking of switching to a 10W-30 but not really sure.

The most common weight oils being used by the guys with Gen 2 L's are 5W-20, 5W-30, and 10W-30.

In Florida, I don't see why it would be a problem, especially in the summer.

Why the need to switch to a 10w30? Do you have oil pressure problems? If not the factory 5w20 will work fine.

I have no problems but im just curious. Because I dont need the 5W protection in FL anyways. The coldest it ever gets in winter is like 40*F and summers are in the 90's.

The 5W insures that oil gets up to the cams as fast as possible on start-up to eliminate wear. The cams ride directly on the aluminum heads with no bearing in between. The 5w20 is also easier to pump so you gain a little hp as well.

I agree 5w-20 is better to get the RPMs up.

On another note - How come there are no 5w20s in a high mileage formula?
is there a full synthetic that meets Fords requirements?

But I dont really like to take the risk of running a 5W-20....Thats alittle too thin IMO
