OK... So I do have to rain on the parade of praises here and ask a question...

Don't our cooling fans blow out toward the radiator? If so, then wouldn't all that warm air be blown thru the radiator and be let in thru the air box inlet? Just curiuos... I could be totally off base... That's kind of why I like the 4.9L air box, it actually hooks to the side in order to pull air from behind the headlight and not from in front of the radiator...

Alright, here is the scoop... A WAI may net you some gains if you were driving a chevy. Chevy's had those goofy manifold fuel injection systems which are not much more than a fancy carburetor if you ask me. I've seen many examples of large gas mileage changes when the intake charge is too cold, or if the throttle body/intake manifold are not getting warm enough. Fuel atomization is a real issue in these circumstances.

Fords on the other hand (being technically superior ) do not suffer from this problem. The multiport fuel injection system injects the fuel much later in the game (right before the air enters the cylinder), and atomizes it much better. A warm intake charge will net you almost no gains because the fuel is already atomized very very well with this setup.

Hope this helps

Umm... This is definitely wrong. Could you imaging if you had a fan that was trying to force air out through the front of the vehicle. your speed is pushing the air one way and your fan is pushing it the other way. Not only would this be really ineffective, but the air pushing against the fan would also create an additional load on the engine.

Air is pulled through in the same direction that it flows naturally when you are driving on the highway.

Yeah, it is really sweet. Not mine though. I did a google search for a hood like that, and that was those were the best pics I could find. If you want to see more of this truck, here is the website I pulled the pics from: October 2009 Gen 1 Truck Of The Month–Congrats Billy "lightning_2000" Dunn(NLOC#2643) - The National Lightning Owners Club Inc
