53 f-100 VIN location
I am looking at a 53 F-100 to buy and it has no title and I cant find a VIN number on the drivers door or anywere else. Is their one stamped on the frame or anywere else I might look for. If not is their any way to get a tile without the VIN number. This truck has been stored in a barn for around 20 years so I know it is ok but they lost the title.
Thanks for any help!!

I have found my Canadian 53 & 56 M100 VINs stamped on the left side of the frame between the steering gear box and the rear of the front springs as well as under left side of the cab. Seems a lot of the VINs are stamped on the right side as well.
It`s very hard to spot stamping, it`s very faint and easily covered with rust and dirt from all the years of use. I found mine only after sandblasting.
At first it appeared there isn`t one but after an extensive search it can be found.

Thank you everyone! After looking and looking and a lot of wire brushing I found it were 53fatfndr found his. On the crossmember under the radiator mount. Now to my next question? F10R3k-***** Does thef10 mean F-100 and the 3 mean 53? How about theR and K. Thanks again

Glad you found it. Here is a link with some info that should help. While the info does refer to the rating plate, which has the VIN stamped on it, it describes the VIN and what it entails. If you haven't found your rating plate on your '53 it should be on the inside of the glove compartment door. Mine was missing, so I had another one made. As long as you have the title and it matches the VIN on your frame, having another one made is not a problem. I used www.datatags.com. He was very quick, done right and much cheaper than the F-100 parts places...it's the exact same plate they sell.

You might want to ask the current owner if they will file for a "lost title." Depending on the laws in your state, getting a title may be a bit of a challenge. If they were the last registered title holder, it will probably save you time and money if they can get a new title issued to them and then transfer it to you.
On the other hand, someone was offering to sell a 53 title and dataplate on here just last week. I'm sure they were only offering the "historical documents" for display purposes, but you never know!
Good Luck!
