Problem w/ EGT gauge

I bought a used Auto Meter EGT gauge (4743) that came w/ a new sending unit/pyrometer probe. I had a local performance shop install it and a boost gauge. This is the problem; When the ignition is off it reads 250 degrees and when truck is running it reads 0 to 100 degrees. The exhaust was drilled and tapped and probe was installed and the wire colors match up. The EGT gauge was working when removed from the other truck. The boost gauge works fine.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this problem.

Sounds like an installation problem.

sounds like the shop messed something up.
