The JT-8 Line is an awesome oil. If you have a good source of it then go with it. But the 15w50 is not an approved oil for your 6.0 only the JT-8 15w40 is.

My thoughts is that it might resist the shearing better, But I just saw on their web page that they have a CJ4 oil now so I might just see if the farm store can order me some of that.

when we farmed we used the JT8 15/40 in every thing, gas & diesel including our 1968 J D 112 lawn tractor,we had a 3cyl 4600 / 4cyl 7700 and a 6cyl TW 10 ford's,a V6 478 cid GM diesel and the 1990 7.3 IDI ,never ran it in a power stroke, not sure if it has enough anti foam in it,tractor supply & farm and fleet used to carry it,was a great oil back then, here in florida we go to wally world (china mart) and get mobil delvac 1300 15/40 for both stroke's 7.3 & 6.0 & the kubota 3400 & the grasshopper 928D with the kubota diesel, you boy's can take this for what it's worth but in 34 year's of farming with thousand's of hr's on equment,we NEVER had an engine go bad,we even have my dad's(passed away7 year's ago) 1958 John Deere 720 gas with just short of 6000 hr's on the clock and it has never been overhauled, never even had the valve's ground,if you ever get to starke Fl,stop at the KOA and i'll show it to you,I realy dont think the brand of oil is as importent as how long you go on a change, that ole Deere prove's that, every 100 hr's for it,same with our ford tractor's, the book's called for 300 hr's for non turbo engines,we changed ever 100 hr's,sorry for the long post off subject.

got to love the pop pop of a JD being worked. I have been trying to get the wife to go to Fla. around about the time of the Florida flywheeler show just not telling her that so we could just happen by and have to stop to check it out. Been on the look out for a new project tractor just have not found anything thats caught my eye yet. but back to the subject we always used Superol gold by the co-op and it was good oil but I think CH high as the grade on it. But thanks for the reply sounds like a god oil.
