I am looking at buying a new F250 V10 this week and am going crazy trying to figure out what i should pay.
The MSRP is $39,220.00
Supposedly according to Ford Web site, Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds the dealer cost is 35,111.00.
I know there is a hold back of about 3% off that invoice.
Can anyone help me with about what i should pay?
I find it hard to believe that Ford would actually publish their true dealers cost. Do you think it may actually be lower than 35,111.00?
Are there other special deals that dealers get from Ford that we do not know about?
I am aware of the rebates. Thanks for your help.
There are three things that come to mind. 1)dealer holdback, 2)employee pricing, and 3)advertising allowance. They all are embedded in the dealer invoice.
Whether you can get to them is problematic. You can get what is known as a PIN that allows you to buy under group arrangements made with large corps, which may get you a better deal than you can negotiate.
My take on a V10 is that right now, the dealer should be close to paying you to take it off his hands. Oink. He probably will not do the same with a diesel. If you could get a diesel deal, it might be a better buy. IMHO.

I went in to a dealer last week looking for a F350 with a V10. The V10 is almost impossible to find in South Fl. The dealer had to write up an order to get the truck I wanted. I had priced it on Edmunds and came out with what I thought the invoice price would be. It was right, other than the fact that it did not include FDAF assessment (adv) of $638. and a charge of $37.18 for 13 gal of gas. This brought the Edmunds invoice price of $30,525 up to $31200. I think at this point in time, on a 2008, X plan is probably going to give you the best price. X plan (which anybody can get one way or another) is 99.6% of the total invoice price plus a $75 admin fee with no other dealer prep or anything else added on. Another idea is to wait till afte Jul 2 when the current rebates are supposed to expire. I imagine they will at least stay the same or improve. You said you are aware of the rebates but in case you didn't know there is a $1000 rebate on the crew cab and a $1,500 rebate on the super cab. There also is a $1,000 loyalty rebate if you currently own a super duty. Getting back to the truck I am interested in the vehicle order confirmation sheet the dealer showed me had all the different plan prices on it. These plan prices are like carved in stone as far as Ford is concerned.
