Motor is a 1966 352 in a two wheel drive.

Does that sound right?

Yep, that's factory spec for sea level. You can add 1* advance for every two thousand feet above sea level. Most the guys here run 10 to 12 degrees initial advance anyway. You don't really run into problems until you have too much total advance under load. There are guys here who can explain the advance curve much better, they'll be along soon.

Is this the distributor that came with the engine?

6* BTDC is RETARDED, litterally........................you'll be happier with 10-14 BTDC. Give it as much as it'll take with out pinging on the gas you want to run. More octane equals more timing, equaling more power.(up to a point)

True.

Just remember the drivability issues with higher octane gas in a low-compression motor.

Cold-start and cold drivability being the biggy.
