460 with a Turbo?
#16
I know this thread is a litttle old, but I haven't been here in a while. My truck is a 1996 F-350, with a 460, and has speed density? and EEC-IV, with C-6 and Gear Vendors O/D. Would changing to mass air be better and also is there more software support for that? Is there a better computer I can swap to? The EEC-IV has hardly any software support, and I truly dislike this setup Ford gave us. Would water injection be a good alternative, or turbo, etc.? I want to get more from the setup without breaking the budget. Just put in a new O2 sensor, may need distributer. If I put in new distributer, any recommendations? I will also put in copper plugs,Autolite or Motorcraft, coil, wires, etc. Really need to put duals on it, but not in budget yet. Thanks for any help.

I think you will find that AEM makes two drop-in replacements for EEC-IV.
017-30-1400 : SD
017-30-1401 : MAF
So here's a question - is the 460 SD harness the same as the 5.0 and 351? I mean, ok, it's $1600. But its a straight up plug-and-plug, fully custumizable computer, that's a pretty good deal. You can buy the components to build your own MegaSquirt for ~ $200, spend another 2-3 bills on building and testing and integrating it to your truck, plus the time to do all these things. If you're an electronics person (would feel comfortable taking a soldering iron to your laptop's motherboard), give the megasquirt a shot. If you aren't familiar with electronics, spend the cash.
