My '79 350 has a 360 from a '69 p/u. I have to tell the monkeys at the parts store that it's a "'69 Ford truck", or they give me a big hassle about no FEs in '79, blah blah blah -- it's an ex-U-Hauler, FEs were stock, though it was originally a 330.
Anyway, I want to upgrade the ignition system. What vehicle do I tell them I have when I want to locate a dizzy & coil to reconnect the Duraspark system? (So far as I know, everything that was fastened to the '79 truck is there, and everything fastened to the '79 engine is gone.)
75-76-77 both had the duraspark setup. Azone sells the dizzys for like 40 bucks.. but you might want to put a MSD or Mallory or Crane Ignition behind the dizzy instead of the Stockbox thou, easier IMO.
Yeah, but if I tell them I want a Duraspark dizzy for a 360 engine, they'll get all sorts of confused and want to know what vehicle it's in -- and once I tell them that, then they'll start trying to sell me parts for 351s or 400s, cuz I'm too stupid to know what engine my truck has. BTDT.
I just want to take the easy way and say I've got a "79 Pinto with a 360 and I need a distributor & coil", or whatever vehicle would actually have a 360 w/ Duraspark II, just to keep it simple. Once it's in and works, or I give up in frustration, then I'll look at upgrading the existant parts.
