Do any of you guys have any 650 Holley double pumper parts? I got a screamin deal on a rebuilt one yesterday. The guy that rebuilt it has been building carbs since the early 60's and knows what he's doing. Anyway, I was looking a one of the vacuum fitting that had a hose on it and a screw in the end to block it and i decided to take it off. Well, the ear snapped off of the baseplate. So dose anyone have a spare baseplate for a 650 double pumper? I also thought that maybe some Permmatex cold weld would work.
Thanks
P.S. for those of you wondering why I posted this on the FE board, its going onto my 65 F100 with a 352 in it.
I would think that is a liitle big from the reading I've done. I am going to run a 600cfm dp on my 360. I have a nice set of headers, going to advance timing, and maybe a small cam. I hope Not sure but hopingit will make at least 250whp?
It should do 250 easy, but I am going to run Lunati's remake of the 428 CJ cam. It will have a real nice lope to it. I would have had it done today but I was running like a chicken with its head cut off looking for a baseplate. I live about 100 miles from any speed shops, and our NAPPER dosent even carry Holley fittings.
If the tube was blocked off why stress it? Fill the hole with some RTV to hold it for now and look for the other one in the meantime. You can also replace the broken tube with a new one. Very carefully drill the remainder of the tube out using a dril bit smaller then the base plate hole but larger then the broken tube. You could even use a reamer if you want. Then pick up some new tubing to replace that one. If you have a hardware store around your area they can match the stuff you have left over. Spend $1.50 for tubing or $40 or more for a different baseplate.
