A lot of people told me how great this product is so I gave it a try. I bought my 2002 Excursion 7.3L used in January with 66,000 miles. I started running the white bottle in march and then switch to the grey bottle in april/may. I think the PO never ran anything like this and never had the injectors cleaner. It seemed like with every tank my MPG got better and better. Also the seat of the pants feel seemed faster. I noticed less down shift on hills and better towing performance. I would say 12-14 MPG was normal before I started using this stuff and now I am seeing 14-18 MPG. 14-15 with mixed towing(5,000lbs camper) and 17-18 unhooked.

That's why you heard what you did from the folks who recommended it. I also hear that the Stanadyne product is as good, if not better. Problem is that it's hard to find, but the good news is that you can mail order it and have it delivered to your house.
I've been running DK since last fall, and wouldn't do without it. At the same time, though, my son is getting ready to purchase a PSD with a 7.3 and I'm going to be getting rid of my V10 Excursion to replace it with another Excursion with a 7.3. Once these purchases have been completed, I'm ordering a case of the Stanadyne to check it out on all three vehicles.

DK works for me as well. My mileage and power definately improved when I first started using DK. My experience has been that Diesel Kleen results last for 2 or 3 tanks or so until I have to use it again. This was before the Ultra Low Sulfer fuel was mandated. Now I worry a bit about lubrication in today's fuel so I am trying out something new. I still use DK about every 4 or 5 tanks which is about every 8 to 10 days or so. In between the DK tanks, I use 6oz of Lucas Oil per tank for injector lubrication (Lucal Oil is a lot cheaper per oz than DK in my area...)
I guess time will tell if this works well or not. From what I have read over the last few years, it seems that 7.3 engines with over 175k miles and the original injectors are not very common. So far I am sitting at 184k and still running the original injectors.....so here is to hoping that the DFA use over the last 100k or so will show some real value now. (crossing my fingers....)

I've been using DK for a while now but never took the time to read the bottle to see if it does what I want
I don't care about cetane boost,I found years ago the higher the cetane the less MPG
what I do care about is cleansers, lubrication and to kill the fungas that grows in diesel fuel
a fungas growth if nothing else can be the most aggrevating thing you can get in a fuel tank
