I just purchased what I was told is an 1950 F1 with the following vin# 98RC 458676 HP stamped on a plate located under the hood on passenger side firewall. The 9 (49' or 50') 8R is 239 flathead V8 C is 1/2 ton F1.
Is this a 49' or 50'?
What does the HP stand for?
Last question is why would the guy I bought it from put a Chevy 305 with 700R tranny in it? I have seen several fords with chevy motors but never learned why?
