New parts
G'day Guys
Just a quick thumbs up for Blue Oval Truck Parts. These guys sponser parts of this site and have worked for me more than once.
The story:
The tailgate on my 79 4x2 swb F100 wouldn't open. One of the little plastic clips had broken on the handle. I rang my local F Series specialist who suggested going to a wrecker and finding some door parts from a 27 year sedan door to replace my 28 year old clips.
I dont have the time nor am I interested in replacing broken parts with almost broken parts.
Logged on to BOTP, sure enough new clips less than $2.00 each whilst I'm there new bumper rubbers to get rid of that "bloody rattle" in the tailgate.
Next thing you know new 'genuine headlight surrounds' bonnet rubbers etc etc. What the hell if I'm paying postage lets make sure the box is full.
About $200.00 later I'm done.
Most days there is an email to let me know how my order is progressing then after about a week the card from the postoffice to let me know it has arrived. (took a while to find the box in a 1 roomed postoffice "we dont get much overseas mail you know")
All the parts are there, they fit
Call me a happy customer
I live outside of Perth Western Australia. There are more remote places in the world but Perth still has the distinction of being the world's most remote capitol city and live a bit outside it.

Mike, here's a suggestion. Go to hipoparts.com and purchase a copy of the 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts catalog on CD. This catalog will give you every part number the trucks have. The parts illustrations will be very helpful in not only finding the part numbers, but for dis-assembly and re-assembly.
After you get your copy, go to this reference: Section 400; Page 4. Every part associated with the tailgate is shown here in this illustration.
Everyone who has one of these trucks should have a parts catalog. Most of today's Ford Dealer partsmen could care less about your trucks, and will shine you on when you ask for something. Once you get the number, there are several sites you can verify whether the part number is still available. Obsolete Ford parts seller and FTE sponsor Green Sales has a part number verification/availability service.
If you can't find what you are looking for, send me an email. I have sources most others don't have.
