how should i set up my exhaust?

Its finally time to replace my exhaust and im wondering what everybody thinks is the best setup for mileage and power and sound.
Im thinking about going with a 3" catback with a flow-master muffler, but am wondering if I should go with 1 cat or 2 (factory has 2 on my 92). Also since I have it in the shop I'll get the timing adjusted, what was the setting for that again? 12 degrees? So let me know what everybody thinks.

You did not say which engine. I have noticed more 302 owners like headers also. The 351 guys do not mention it as often. With or without headers one of the gurus of this forum likes the Bassini Y-pipe assembled to their high flow cat then run 3 inch muffler of your choice and single 3 inch tail pipe. This is supposed to maintain torque. Right Kemicalburns?

I have a 351. Im thinking about doing my exhaust within the next week. I went to summit and found some Flowtech shorty headers. Im not going to put cats back on so what do you suggest for a system? I have an exhaust shop that does good work.

roostercrows I have plenty of power with my original system. Guess you can tell rust is no problem here? I don't travel to high elevations nor tow more than a couple of 4-wheelers and a trailer full of coolers, and loaded Bronco . Our Broncos are set up to run at lower rpms thus need plenty of torque. I have heard many times that making an exhaust too free will sacrifice torque but have more HP at high rpm but I would not consider 2,200 down the highway very high.

Yes, 12*btdc, warmed up, spout removed is great timing.

Exhaust has been a very popular thread. May I suggest you look above at Forums, then Search then try these user names, Kemicalburns, Greystreak92 and enter your topic for your Bronco. There is much there, Flomaster rust, 3/8 header flanges with 1" Allen head bolts, single vs. dual, etc.

THE KING, I have no right to try to police you but can't help making a comment....please remember we all live in the same air. Cats are there for a reason plus consider the legal issues.

These mufflers have the exact same internal construction as a Flowmaster. They sound exactly the same for half the price.

If you are going single 3" you only need 1. I would recomend a 3-way cat from Magnaflow.

thanks everyone for their input, I have decided to go with the Gibson 3" cat-back system
which also comes highly recommended.
thanks again
