Used ATS turbo kit, buy or dont buy?
I have the pump off of the 92 7.3 for rebuild and he has an (as far as I can tell) almost complete take -off ATS turbo kit with newly rebuilt turbo. Story is he rebuilt the turbo and the guy junked the truck. Air cleaner box says 6.9 turbo on it. As far as I can tell it is complete except for the "y" pipe and needs the turbo oil feed line as the remover choose to cut it and all the gauge lines. Price is $800 should I buy? And can you'ens help me with installaion since its all thrown in a box and no instructions? Thanks.

Go over it with a fine tooth comb, if the turbo is in good condition, than go for it, but I would try to make an offer to bring the price down a little. $800 is an average price, but complete used have sold for that much or sometimes less.
I picked up a used 088 ats kit and also had to improvise a few things to make everything work right, took me a few days.
Now when you say the "Y" pipe is missing do you mean the crossover pipe or the cast iron collector that connects to the turbo?
Do you know if this is a new style wastegated turbo or the older non wastegated?

It is a non waste gated turbo. There is a "feed" pipe for the turbo that looked to be factory and made of heavy tubing. It was made to fit the turbo housing. The housing is not like the current kits that have two pipes coming up to the turbo. The exhaust comes together under the motor then comes up in one pipe. A copy of the parts list shows a "y" pipe type deal that was part of the kit but is not with it now.

My feeling is that it is a little overpriced, If it were me, I would at least expect it to be complete for that amount.
Does it come with gauges?

I would agree that it is overpriced since it is not complete.
You may be able to fabricate the Y, but if you have an exhaust shop do it it will be expensive.
There are a lot of small parts that you would be able to miss easily while looking through the pile of parts.
If you were to buy it, I would print out the parts list and check it against what is there.
A couple more missing parts and you may have an expensive pile of parts.
I have heard ATS is not the easiest company to get replacement parts from these days.
I hate that because they did have an excellent turbo system, I have one.

I know this is an old post... Just thought I'd add incase someone comes across this for information. The 085 does not come with a Y pipe. It comes with a single exhaust feed. The stock pipe setup comes from the manifold joining both sides into one. You're supposed to cut the pipe just after the joint and connect the Kit pipe which loops upward to the Turbo ... the Y that is referred to is already existing.
