lots of pinging or rattaling

On my 01 v10 i have a teribble noise when i put it past half throttle. It sounds alot like pinging but that just doesn't seam possible because its constaint the more throttle the more pinging to the point that it pings several times a second, and loud enough to here clearly over the radio. I saw a recall for a noise from the exhuast but mines 3 months past the affected dates. my first thought was heat sheilds but they all seem perfectly tight. When i towed a trailer the other day it sounded like someone shaking a pop can with a dime in it and it's really anoying. Has any one else had this problem?

I know 87 is supposed to be just fine.

Mine started pinging under load and when accelerating uphill at some point after 100k miles. I noticed it was much quieter with 91 octane, and after I had the throttle body cleaned it went completely away. Now I just stick to 91 and add some Lucas injector cleaner (which I like because I can use it in my diesel too) every few tanks, and I haven't had any pinging for the last 50k miles. It's been just like new again.
