Gauges for '04 SD 6.0 PSD

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the PSD world and would like to know what A/M gauge sets are recommended for the '04 6.0 PSD. OEM Trans temp and oil pressure leave a lot to be desired. Also, why did Ford build these beasts without a boost gauge!?

Any suggestions for gauge sets and hints/tips for installation of the same would be appreciated. Cheers.

You need EGT, Boost & Trans Temp as a minimum. Here is a link to install
http://www.truckblog.com/story-1312-...n_project_jakd

FYI this question has been asked at least 6-times in the last couple of days and there are several threads on the subject in first couple of pages of the 6.0 forum. I am not trying to slam you, but please read the current posts and use the SEARCH function. Also read the TECH folder at the top of this forum.

As for why FMC didn't install a boost gauage you will have to ask them.

Check out the Quadzilla Commander if you want something of the digital variety.

I use a BD Outlook monitor that is really "clean" and preserves the a-pillar handle. While I like the Outlook it is limited in only showing 3 parameters; EGT's, Tranny temp and Boost. Its "alarm" amounts to flashing the display. I'm not real adept at driving like a maniac....er' like a pro at WOT and looking at the bottom of my a-pillar for a warning! It would be nice to have an audible alarm or something.

Here is where the Commander steps in. Not only can it monitor many more parameters (7 at one time) it can work in conjunction w/ many performance modules that offer in-cab or on-the-fly adjustability and also alert as preset limits are reached. All this versatility plus data-logging for $350-400. A little more than some analogs and a pod but lots of additional options for later as well.

Oops!

My brain was on crack at work this afternoon or something! I have a BD X-Monitor, no such thing as the BD Outlook...

long, long day...

Are you talking about the new monitor that bully dog put out, because the one that I had monitored 4 parameters at once, however, egt's was fixed in the bottem left corner and you could only change the other three, also there wasn't any flashing of the screen, which leads me to suspect your talking about the newer one, but wanted to be sure.

Tex,
Sorry about the mix-up, check my post just prior to yours. It is the X-monitor by BD, not the Outlook. I guess that shows I spend too much time looking at all the latest product offerings. Currently contemplating an upgrade to the Commander.

You may also want to consider the MSD Dashhawk. I am currently helping their software guys out as a Beta tester for the 6.0L and we seem to be making some good process. Here is the thread where I have been posting our progress.

I also recommend an ELECTRIC fuel pressure gauge. Pricy but well worth the information it gives and it's cheaper than an injector.
