Question line rebuild?

the guy that I got my motor from said it would need a line rebuild, how much will this cost and what does it consist of? thanks

Maybe vacuum or fuel? "Line" isn't very specific...

he said its been ran too hot as the engine was in a derby car, but I got it for free

install it and see what it does! might not need anything, i bought one with "cracked block, broken rods" and got 15,000 out of it, no probs, then sold it.

yeah I thought about doin that and see how it runs and if I dont like it ill just take it out and rebuild it.

d oes anybody know what ype ofrebuild he was talking about though, he said it was run way hot because it was in a derby car and ran without a fan and when hit without a radiator.

if it's a 302, heat is not as big a factor as it is with a lot of other motors, they're pretty good at handling it.

There is something called "line boring". That's when the main bearing journals have been beat out too large, and the main bearing caps have to be taken out and a little shaved of the bottom of the caps. Then a big "line boring" machine runs a cutter through the main bearing caps after they are bolted back down, and machines them back to spec.
