finned aluminum valley cover

Question before I start......

can this be installed without head removal?

I saw some text that indicated it was required...

thanks in advance.

The finned alum valley I had could not be installed without removing one or two heads. I cant remember which because it was a long time ago. Also, it is usually the case that the oil fill pipe and hole has to be installed by buyer. I had the installation done by a machine shop, and it didnt fit correctly, interfering with the thermostat housing and required material removal from the housing. Ended up throwing the damn finned cover in the trash.

got mine in a deal with a tri power setup... oil fill already installed,

is the issue clearance with the heads installed?

any tips?

I may leave it off instead of cracking the head bolts, head gaskets, and the related work.....

The head or heads need to come off to get the cover under the bottom of the head intake flanges.

Somewhere, there were pictures posted about how one person machines the cover to provide clearance in the 4 areas where the ports are, so the cover can be installed without having to remove the heads. Naturally, one could do the same thing with the proper file and turn in a nice version, if accompanied by the proper workmanship.

I can't recall where I saw the pics -- sorry.
